The risk factors for exfoliation glaucoma, which can be contracted from drinking excessive amounts of coffee over a long period of time, are numerous. Scandinavians have a propensity for the glaucoma, which may be a result of drinking strong coffees. People over 60, those who have a family history of glaucoma, and those who have had eye injuries in the past are at a higher risk. For some reason African Americans are six times more likely to get the condition than caucasians, and the use of steroid medicines may also increase the danger of this glaucoma type.
