Can Drinking Coffee Make You Go Blind?
Dangerous condition for heavy coffee drinkers.
Exessive coffee drinking may lead to blindness, according to a study conducted by Harvard researchers who studied several thousand health records of individuals with a history of eye exams and questionairre fill-outs. As it turns out, something about the caffeine in coffee, or other compounds in the beverage, are leading to exfoliation glaucoma, which is a condition that raises eye pressure and can lead to vision loss. The extensive nature of the study also showed many risk factors including previous eye injury and age. Until a definitive study comes out, it may make sense to cut back on the java until you are certain that you won't be wide awake but unable to see.
